It’s all in the preparation

  • Cooking and freezing extra meals means a super quick and easy meal for another night. Just heat and eat. Soups, curries, lasagne, stews and mince all freeze well.
  • Freeze snacks for when friends or family visit eg, homemade savoury or banana bran muffins, meatballs or homemade ice blocks.
  • Freeze or stew in-season fruit. Stewed plums and feijoas taste great on porridge or breakfast cereal. Frozen berries and bananas are perfect for smoothies.
  • Slow cookers are great for busy families. In the morning put everything into the pot, turn on, and come home to a tasty cooked meal.
  • Canned chickpeas, lentils and beans are quick, low-cost ways to bulk up meals.
